This year the Easter Season starts with Good Friday on April 18, followed by Easter Sunday on April 20 and rounded up with Easter Monday on April 21.While I do like to change up the energetic blends I use around Easter, this Synergy is one that I often turn to as I find its rationale very meaningful. Please feel free to recreate this blend, or use it as a starting point for your own creating. Enjoy!
My inspiration for this particular Easter Synergy was based on information I found in the book "Cursing the Basil and other Folklore of the Garden" written by Vivian A. Rich.
Here is some information on my rationale for choosing the oils I have in my blend.
Her book is full of references as to how many flowers were thought to have changed in response to the Crucifixion.
White jasmine is known as the Star of Divine Hope and was often associated with the purity of the Virgin Mary. When Christ was crucified the most beautiful flowers in the world curled up and died. The Jasmine, which was at the time a pink flower, closed its petals and quietly bore the pain of the world. The morning after the Crucifixion, the plant was still alive. Its flowers are said to have remained pink since then.
Violets are another flower said to have be changed by the Crucifixion. It was thought that previously they were strong and upright until the shadow of the cross fell on some violets on Mount Calvary. It is said that since that time Violets have bowed their heads in shame.
Although the rose was also a floral symbol of the Crucifixion of Christ, over time it has become more strongly identified with the Virgin Mary.
It was believed that when Christ was removed from the cross, Vervain was used to dress his wounds. As a result the plant is often called 'the Herb of the Cross'. During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, it was believed that it would cure many ailments because it had grown on Mount Calvary.
Wishing you all a very Blessed Easter and a Season filled with Light and Love.
