For this month's Meditation and Energy Healing Session with the Goddess, the card I drew from Kris Waldherr's Goddess Inspiration Oracle Deck this month was for the goddess Mama Quilla. Join me in the Meditation and Energy Healing Session with the goddess Mama Quilla above.

Kris Waldherr calls Mama Quilla, Mother Moon, with the Keywords: Time, Motherhood, Marriage and the Message: Just as the moon changes over time, so will your situation.

In the introduction to her Goddess Inspiration Oracle Guide she says: Affirmations offer a direct way to put the Divine Feminine into action. They allow us to change negative thought patters, thus freeing us to create a new road map for our lives. Affirmations also empower us to be self-sufficient - since we are giving ourselves positive feedback, we are not so reliant on others for praise. All of her Goddess Messages can easily be changed to an Affirmation. Mama Quilla's Affirmation: My situation changes over time.

Kris Waldherr continues:

Besides being a goddess of marriage, Mama Quilla was an Incan moon divinity – her name translates literally as “Mother Moon”.  One story claims that this goddess was the mother of the sun god, Manco Capac, who was also considered the first Incan.  Appropriately, Mama Quilla was associated with calendars, which document the passage of time delineated by the moon and sun.

The Incan people thought that Mama Quilla was embodied in the preeminent wife of the chief.  As such, this mortal woman served to represent the divine powers of the noon on earth.

The Goddess Garden.com says:

Mama Quilla is the Incan moon goddess. She is also known as Mama Killa, or Mother Moon. She is considered a defender of women. As such, she also the goddess of marriage and the menstrual cycle. Mama Quilla was important for the Inca calendar, because for them, she was responsible for calculating the passage of time. In Cuzco, Peru, the capital city of the Incan Empire, she had her own temple with priestesses who were dedicated to her.

They also say under their heading of Mythology that:

The Incas believed that the dark spots on the moon where there because a fox fell in love with her because of her beauty and rose into the sky to be with her. When he got there, she squeezed him so close against her, it produced the dark patches we see.

The Incas feared lunar eclipses because they believed that they were caused by an animal (possibly a mountain lion, serpent or puma) trying to attack Mama Quilla. In attempt to scare away the animal, they would throw weapons, make wild gestures, and create as much noise as possible. They believed that if the animal succeeded in swallowing the moon, the world would be left in darkness.

They also believed that Mother Moon cried tears of silver.

As I reflect on this month's Meditation and Energy Healing with the Mama Quilla, I reflect what in my life is being affected or supported by her energy.

Can you see how they might be supporting you in your own unique life at this time?
