For this month's Meditation and Energy Healing Session with the Goddess, the card I drew from Kris Waldherr's Goddess Inspiration Oracle Deck this month was for the goddess Erda, while the additional goddess card I decided to draw from Colette Baron-Reid’s Goddess Power Oracle Deck was for Kali.  As promised in the video I'm happy to share more information about them both here.

Kris Waldherr calls Erda, the Goddess of Earth, with the Keywords: Wisdom, Fate, Divination and the Message: Look to the earth for answers.  In the introduction to her Goddess Inspiration Oracle Guide she says: Affirmations offer a direct way to put the Divine Feminine into action. They allow us to change negative thought patters, thus freeing us to create a new road map for our lives. Affirmations also empower us to be self-sufficient - since we are giving ourselves positive feedback, we are not so reliant on others for praise. All of her Goddess Messages can easily be changed to an Affirmation. Erda's Affirmation: I look to the earth for answers.

Kris Waldherr continues:

The Norse earth goddess, Erda, lived in a cave within the earth’s deepest recesses, which was set next to the roots of Yggdrasil, the vast world tree.  The earth was thought to revolve on its axis around Yggdrasil, whose massive limbs sustained and connected all of life.  Yggdrasil was watered by Erda’s plentiful fountain of wisdom.  This pure source of water enabled the tree’s tallest branches to reach the heavens, and its widest branches to give shade to all. Erda’s powers were as encompassing as Yggdrasil’s leafy span- the goddess and her magical fountain were often invoked by those in need of her far-reaching wisdom.  Others believed Erda would bend the inexorable power of fate over which she ruled.

Because of Erda’s association with fate, the Norse thought there was a clear correlation between the goddess and the art of divination.  They often turned to the earth itself for guidance, using many aspects of it as oracles – animals, birds, the sky, even the ocean.  They believed observation of these phenomena could offer divine answers.

In her Goddess Power Oracle Guidebook, Colette Baron-Reid  gives Kali the Keyword: Liberation and her Empowerment Message includes:

You’re being invited by the Hindu goddess of liberation and revolution, Kali, to address the aspects in your own shadow nature that have held you hostage to old ideas that no longer serve who you want to become.  You can no longer define yourself by your victim story and expect to succeed in your life.  There is a beauty in liberation that is deep, fierce, and courageous.  It rises up from the willingness to break the chains of the past in order to transform into something new.

Kali will help you whenever you need to be courageous, even when you are most afraid.  Be fierce and be loving and be willing to learn.  Life will respond in miraculous ways.

Patricia Monaghan, in her book The Goddess Path, Myths, Invocations & Rituals gives Kali the Keyword: Freedom.

In part of her chapter on the Myth and Meaning of Kali she says:

In several Hindu traditions, Kali is the most important goddess of our age.  In such times it is vital to understand this goddess in order to survive, to endure, to finally teach peace.

She was born at a time like this one, when the masculine force had become predominant and threatened the universe with total destruction.

She also says: The freedom Kali offers us is to be slave no more to the things of this world that demand so much of our time and attention, but rather to be true to what is lasting in the great sweep of time.  Love, connection, generosity, beauty – these last.  Therefore, the gift is Freedom from the tyranny of concern for the present, and all the joy that goes with such freedom.

Kris Waldherr calls Kali Ma the Dark Mother, with the Keywords: Destruction, Construction, Renewal and has the Message: Allow the old to pass.  Something better awaits.  She also says:

Acceptance of Kali Ma recognizes that life cannot exist without death; death affords an opportunity for new growth to rise from the old.

As I reflect on this month's Meditation and Energy Healing with the Goddesses Erda and Kali, I consider Erda's deep wisdom and connection to Yggdrasil, the vast world tree connected to all life and Kali's gift of Freedom from the tyranny of concern for the present and contemplate how they are supporting me navigate the energies weaving in and out of my life at this time.

Can you see how they might be supporting you in your own unique life at this time?

Blessings to you all!
