For November’s Meditation and Energy Healing Session with the Goddess, the card I drew from Kris Waldherr's Goddess Inspiration Oracle Deck was the goddess Isamba. Join me in the Meditation and Energy Healing Session with the goddess Isamba above.

Kris Waldherr calls Isamba, the Goddess of the Night, with the Keywords: The Moon, Death, Cycles and the Message: You are where you are meant to be.  Cultivate acceptance.  In the introduction to her Goddess Inspiration Oracle Guide she says: Affirmations offer a direct way to put the Divine Feminine into action. They allow us to change negative thought patters, thus freeing us to create a new road map for our lives. Affirmations also empower us to be self-sufficient - since we are giving ourselves positive feedback, we are not so reliant on others for praise. All of her Goddess Messages can easily be changed to an Affirmation. Isamba’s Affirmation: I accept that I am exactly where I am meant to be!

She continues:

Isamba, a goddess of the Issansu people of Tanzania, was considered the personification of the moon at night.  She was married to the sun god.  When Isamba competed with her husband to discover which of them was the wisest, she accidentally became the creator of death.  Since then, she has been associated with the cycle of life.

The moon with its predictable cycles of waxing and waning, has long been associated with the cycles of life and death.  Our individual lives also go through cycles of waxing and waning, though they may not be as clearly delineated as those of the moon.  If we understand that what is empty will eventually become full again, it becomes easier to accept that all is as it should be in our lives.

According to a paper given by Zekeh S. Gbotokuma of the Morgan State University at the Twentieth World Congress of Philosophy, in Boston, Massachusetts from August 10 – 15, 1998:

Isamba is not a goddess bur rather the first woman in an Issansu myth from Tanzania, appearing in the story “The Pitcher and the Basket” as the wife of Kiula, the first man.  In this myth, Kiula and Isamba represent the original human couple, while the sun and moon are described as the original divine couple.

Otherwise not a whole lot of information is available about this Goddess.  According to Wikipedia:

The Isanzu (Anyihanzu) are a Bantu ethno-linguistic group based in Mkalama District, Singida Region, Tanzania. In 1987 the Isanzu population was estimated to number 32,400 [1]. The Isanzu have matrilineal descent groups and are agriculturalists who subsist on sorghum, millet, and maize. Most Isanzu make a living as farmers and through migrant labour to other parts of the country, principally, Arusha.[1]

Isanzuland was colonized by Germany in the late 19th century (this happened after a short war between the isanzu and the Germans who were under Waldemer Walther in 1894. [2]), and during the First World War, occupied by British forces. Following the war Tanganyika became a British Trust Territory and a British administration governed this area, like the rest of the Territory, through a policy of Indirect Rule until independence in 1961.[3]

So I wasn’t able to get much more information about this goddess. The three cards that were drawn from the Soul Helper Oracle, Messages from Your Higher Self by Christine Arana Fader share the following insights.

25. Protect What You Love: It is your duty and responsibility. It is one of your greatest strengths to protect others.  You also have the precious gift of being able to give comfort, which gives you strength and confidence.

13. Rise Above the Dard Days of Life: Do not fight them but have faith that the light will always return.

There is nothing that the outside world can give you; the only things that matter are the light in your heart and the voice of your soul.  The warrior within you is a servant of the light and brings you centeredness and meditation.  Your inner warrior light is the source of wisdom and stillness.

41. The Lotus Within You Awakes: You are a master in light on high.

You are now ready and will surpass yourself and become an inspiration for all beings in all worlds, in all times and all dimensions.  You will awaken and follow your soul path as a master.

How might some of this resonate with you and what you are experiencing in your world right now?
