For September's Meditation and Energy Healing Session with the Goddess, the card I drew from Kris Waldherr's Goddess Inspiration Oracle Deck was for the goddess Berchta. Join me in the Meditation and Energy Healing Session with the goddess Berchta above.

Kris Waldherr calls Berchta, the Goddess of Destiny, with the Keywords: Fate, The Home, Winter and the Message: The seeds of the future already lie within you.  Find serenity as it unfolds.  In the introduction to her Goddess Inspiration Oracle Guide she says: Affirmations offer a direct way to put the Divine Feminine into action. They allow us to change negative thought patters, thus freeing us to create a new road map for our lives. Affirmations also empower us to be self-sufficient - since we are giving ourselves positive feedback, we are not so reliant on others for praise. All of her Goddess Messages can easily be changed to an Affirmation. Berchta’s Affirmation: I already hold the seeds of the future within and serenely watch it unfold!

Kris Waldherr continues:

The German goddess Berchtta was associated with the art of transforming flax into linen, symbolizing her ability to spin the thread of destiny.  She also presided over other household affairs traditionally associated with women.  During medieval time, she was considered a witch by Christians suspicious of the old ways.

Perhaps because the turn of a spinning wheel suggests the turn of the seasons, Berchta was believed to wear a mantle of snow upon her shoulders.  Some said the goddess appeared to her followers as a young woman, while others claimed she took on the form of a shite-tressed crone.  This suggests Berchta’s ability to embody both past and future within herself.

According to the website: German Girl in America:

In Germanic tradition, the goddess Berchta, or Bertha, (meaning ‘bright’ or ‘shining one’) protects women and children.  Often called the Lady in White or White Lady, she was associated with beautiful birch tress and watched over the forests and all the wildlife in it.  She was the spirit guide who led the dead into the afterlife and her duty was to care for the children who died in infancy.

Berchta was considered the goddess of liminal or in-between spaces.  You’ll find her between safety and danger, between life and death, and on the Epiphany, she is the goddess of the time between the years.

On this post, she is also associated with a number of other Germanic Legends which take a different turn to Kris Walhherr’s interpretation so I haven’t included them here but if you are interested in this you can read more about it on their post Here

As I reflect on this information, plus the two cards I pulled from John Holland's The Psychic Tarot for the Heart, I can see where the interface between Berchta, Healing Begins (6 Swords), and New Vitality (Ace Wards) is reflected in my own experience. Are you are able to make a connection to what is happening in your own experience?
