Angelica for Inspiration

The card I chose for my Sunday Essential Oil Reflection is Angelica.  Angelica is for inspiration as it helps to bring in light and wisdom!

Angelica with its herby, spicy aroma has antispasmodic, carminative, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogic, expectorant, febrifugal, fungicidal, stimulant, sudorific and tonic properties.  The essential oil is steam distilled from the seeds or the roots.  It can be used for mental and nervous fatigue, anxiety, migraine, headaches, nervous depression and general debility.

Angelica could be helpful for dull congested skin and psoriasis.  Its antiviral, bactericidal and expectorant properties make it helpful for feverish colds, coughs, chronic bronchitis and pleurisy.  It is a good airborne disinfectant.  It is helpful when you want to improve poor circulation, as well as being an option when dealing with water retention.  It can also be a good choice for nausea and digestive spasms, as well as conditions like indigestion, flatulence, dyspepsia, stomach ulcers and colic.  Its analgesic, antiviral, bactericidal and decongestant properties are also helpful when dealing with menstrual cramps and PMS.  

Energetically, Angelica is often associated with angels and can be helpful in helping one to connect to the angelic realm.  When used during meditation it can help provide protection from outside influences, while at the same time helping to establish a connection to angelic guidance.  Angelica can be very supportive when we are seeking inspiration, it is very grounding while at the same time it can help us see things in a new way.

Caution: Avoid during pregnancy.  If using topically be aware that Angelica Root is phototoxic and that this oil may cause skin irritation or sensitization. Angelica Seed is safe to use topically.
