Mandarin for Happiness

The card that popped out for my Sunday Essential Oil Reflection is Mandarin.  Mandarin is for happiness, it is also great for children’s digestive problems, including indigestion and hiccups! 

Mandarin with its citrusy, fruity aroma has antiseptic, mild antispasmodic, mild diuretic, mild laxative, tranquilizing, relaxant, sedative and lymphatic stimulant properties.  Mandarin is a favourite of children.

Mandarin has cell regenerating and antiseptic properties and is helpful for acne, congested, oily and combination skin.  It can be soothing for muscle spasms.  It is said to increase lymphatic circulation and helps in detoxification.  Mandarin is also an immune stimulant.  Its calming digestive properties make it helpful when dealing with indigestion, gastritis, dyspepsia, hiccups, constipation, obesity and intestinal problems.  It has been found to help increase urine flow and ease fluid retention.  It also helps to soothe PMS and menstrual cramps.

Energetically, Mandarin is considered to be helpful for insomnia (especially if of a nervous origin), as well as anxiety, tension, nervousness and stress related disorders.  It can have a hypnotic effect and eases grief, fear and hysteria.  It is often used to help one connect to one’s ‘playful inner child’.
