Canarium luzonicum

The card I choose for my Sunday Essential Oil Reflection is Elemi.  Elemi for balancing the Spiritual and Worldly!

Elemi, with its balsamic, incense-like and spicy aroma, has analgesic, antiseptic, cicatrizant, expectorant, fungicidal, stimulant, stomachic and tonic properties.  It also has air antiseptic properties and has been used in facial masks, facial creams and oil and body creams and oils for aged skin, infected cuts and wounds, inflammations, skin infections, rejuvenation and wrinkles.  Jeanne Rose says that it is helpful in getting wounds to close.  Considered to be helpful in normalizing either an oily or a dry skin.  It can also help control heavy perspiration.

Its antiviral, bactericidal and expectorant properties can be  beneficial when used in baths, inhalations, local massage and diffusers for bronchitis and unproductive coughs.  Considered helpful in easing congestion and in controlling excessive mucus.

Energetically, Elemi is considered to be helpful in balancing spiritual and worldly life.  It can also open one up to mystical experiences.  It can assist in grounding one after meditation. It has long been considered to be a bridge between heaven and earth.  Elemi has the nickname “as above, so below”.
