Frankincense for Protection

The card that popped out for my Sunday Essential Oil Reflection is Frankincense.  Frankincense is for protection, it is calming, grounding and deepens breathing!

Frankincense with its woody, spicy and slight sweet aroma has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antidepressant, astringent, expectorant, sedative, tonic and digestive properties.  It can be used for anxiety, nervous tension & depression, stress, nightmares, hysteria, impatience, irritability and panic.  It can be helpful in cases of paranoia, obsessions with the past and fear of the future.  It is helpful in cases of indecision.   It slows breathing, producing calm, soothing and elevated mental states.  It brings peace and is useful in meditation.

Its anti-inflammatory and regenerating properties are helpful for dry, mature, aged skin, acne, pimples, scars, ulcers and wounds.  While its expectorant and mucolytic properties help to soothe asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, cough, pleurisy and laryngitis.  Frankincense helps to deepen breathing.  Its bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties make it useful for conditions like cystitis, genital infections, breast inflammations, uterine bleeding outside of menses and PMS.  

Energetically, Frankincense can be used to awaken one’s spiritual purpose.  Using this oil can guide and reconnect one to the Divine presence.  Frankincense calms, comforts and centers one, as well as stabilizes one’s emotions.  It is very grounding and quiets and clarifies the mind.  When used in meditation it promotes a state in which one is better able to receive and integrate healing energies.  It has long been considered a sacred oil which helps to heal the spirit and comfort the heart.  

Caution: Generally considered non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing. Can be skin sensitizing if oxidized.
