Galbanum for Surrender

The card that popped out for my Sunday Essential Oil Reflection is Galbanum.  Galbanum is for Surrender, it helps one to shed old patterns and ideas!

Galbanum with its green, woody, earthy, spicy aroma  has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, balsamic, carminative, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, hypotensive, restorative and tonic properties.  Galbanum essential oil, steam distilled from the oleoresin or gum, is calming and balancing and can be used for synergies created for nervous tension, erratic moods, hysteria and paranoia.  It is thought to ease emotional rigidity and remove psychic blocks.  It may help to resolve old emotional problems, especially when of an emotional nature.

Galbanum can be very helpful when dealing with wounds, healing scar tissue and inflammations.  Its antiviral, bactericidal and expectorant properties are also helpful for coughs, congestion, bronchial spasm and mucus, while its mild analgesic properties are useful when dealing with arthritis, rheumatism and muscular aches and pains.  It has also been shown to be useful in synergies created to help induce menstruation, as well as deal with PMS, menopause problems and water retention.

Energetically, Galbanum can help to shed light on one’s life purpose and on one’s inner self.  Although some suggest that when creating blends around these issues one should always caution as one never knows just what might be revealed.
