Grapefruit for Optimism

The card I chose for my Sunday Essential Oil Reflection is Grapefruit.  Grapefruit is for optimism, it is also astringent, detoxifying and uplifting!

Grapefruit with its sweet, citrus-like and refreshing aroma has antiseptic, antitoxic, astringent, stimulant, diuretic, digestive and general tonic properties.  It is uplifting and calming and can be helpful in cases of depression, nervous exhaustion, performance stress, jet lag, PMS, alcohol and drug withdrawal.  It has been known to give one a feeling of euphoria.

Grapefruit has air antiseptic properties and it has been used in blends added to products for athlete’s foot, acne, oily skin and cellulite.  Its calming properties can be helpful in easing muscle fatigue and stiffness.  It may increase circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system.  It is a good oil to consider for anyone on a detoxification regime.  Its antiviral properties make it a good environmental disinfectant.  It has also been found to be a very helpful digestive and could be useful in cases of anorexia and bulimia.  It may also be helpful for those on a weight loss regime.  

Grapefruit is helpful for depression, headaches, nervous exhaustion, jet lag, PMS, as well as alcohol and drug withdrawal.  Its gentle feeling of euphoria helps to fight feelings of self doubt and helps boost confidence.

Energetically, Grapefruit can help to calm mental chatter.  It can also be helpful in dissolving emotional energy blocks around frustration and self-blame. Grapefruit has always been one of my personal favorites and never fails to give me just the lift I’m looking for.

⚠️ Caution: Cold pressed Grapefruit has phototoxic properties when applied topically.  Topical application should be avoided with exposure to sun or UV rays.  Steam distilled Grapefruit is considered non phototoxic and can be applied to the skin at any time.
