Lavandula angustifolia

The card that popped out for my Sunday Essential Oil Reflection is Lavender. Lavender is for nurturing, it soothes grief and promotes peace!

Lavender with its light, floral mellow aroma  has relaxing, soothing and sedating properties.  It is a great addition to any blend for anger, depression, insomnia, hysteria, migraines, mood swings, nervous tension and shocks.  Although many people do like lavender, I have come across some who can actually have an aversion to it.  When you explore further it is generally because the aroma is associated with a negative experience in the past.

It is an oil that can be helpful for so many different conditions and because of this it is an oil that I believe has a place in everyone's essential oil kit.  Its calming, balancing properties can really help the body to activate its own healing potential.

Lavender has the reputation of bringing soothing, balance and comfort.  I have noticed however that this is often when it is used in low dilutions.  It has been interesting to note that when Lavender is used in high concentrations it can have a stimulating effect.

Energetically, in addition to soothing grief and promoting peace, Lavender balances all the energy centers and subtle bodies.  It is useful in all energy healing techniques to help relax and balance, while at the same time it can clear and cleanse a room and bring in positive energy.  It promotes compassion, as well as calming, comforting and stabilizing emotions of the heart.
