Embrace your Passion
Kasey Goldstraw-Gorgenyi of Tranquility Wellness & Yoga kindly hosted me on her YouTube channel to offer a mini-Meditation and Energy Healing with the Goddesses, which means this month we have a Bonus Meditation and Energy Healing with the Goddess Rati. As usual I'm sharing a bit more information about her here.
Kris Waldherr calls Rati Goddess of Sexuality with the Keywords: Passion, Love, Pregnancy and the Message: Embrace your passion. In the introduction to her Goddess Inspiration Oracle Guide she says: Affirmations offer a direct way to put the Divine Feminine into action. They allow us to change negative thought patters, thus freeing us to create a new road map for our lives. Affirmations also empower us to be self-sufficient - since we are giving ourselves positive feedback, we are not so reliant on others for praise. All of her Goddess Messages can easily be changed to an Affirmation. Rati's Affirmation: I am embracing my passion!
Kris Waldherr continues:
Worshiped in India, beautiful Rati bears the ripe body of a heavily pregnant woman. Her passion-inspiring powers share similarities with Venus, the Roman goddess of love. Rati is one of the wives of Kama, the god of desire, whom some compare to Cupid, the desire-creating son of Venus. Kama was born of Lakshmi, the beloved Hindu goddess of prosperity and Vishnu, the powerful god known as the preserver.
Though Rati was daughter to the fiery sun god Daksha, she is associated with water. The Apsaras – a group of water goddesses as changeable as the time – include this Hindu love goddess among their many members. Renowned for their bewitching, shapeshifting powers, the Apsaras often take on the appearance of seductive women, with long, dark hair heavily perfumed with sandalwood. They are impossible to resist and can tempt the celibate to give up their solitary ways. Some believe these enchantresses serve as attendants to Kama.
Rati is also honored on the Indonesian island of Bali.
The Hindu faith views sex as a spiritual, pleasurable activity – an important practice that should not be shamefully hidden from other aspects of life. Much art and literature exists to encourage the full enjoyment of romantic congress. Perhaps the most famous book devoted to this subject is the Kama Sutra which was written during the Gupta period (320 to 550 ca) in Indian history. Rati served as inspiration for a similar text, entitled the Ratirahasya; the name of this book means ‘the secrets of love.’ The love goddess’s secrets are exposed within its explicit pages, which include numerous techniques to bring lovers pleasure.
According to an article posted on Rudrasharatna.com :
Falling in love with a special someone is an indescribable divine emotion. Everyone wants to find that one person who they can love and who loves them with their entire heart and soul. All the success and money in the world somehow pales in comparison to the joys of pure love. If you desire to seek a partner who genuinely loves you, a soul mate you can happily live with forever, you should worship specific deities who are believed to bless their devotees as they go about their quest to find true love. By venerating them, you can summon her blessings to obtain unconditional love and have blissful matrimony. One of the divinities you should pray to when you seek your soulmate is Rati Devi – Goddess of love, lust, passion, carnal desire and sexual pleasure.
Blessings to you all!
