Be ready to burn with inspiration

Towards the end of each month I offer a short meditation and healing session posted on YouTube and linked above which I start by drawing a card from Kris Waldherr's Goddess Inspiration Oracle Deck. This month the Meditation Healing Session card is Brigit. As promised in the video I'm happy to share more information about her here.

Kris Waldherr calls Brigit the Fiery Arrow with the Keywords: Poetry, Artistry and Fire and the Message: Be ready to burn with inspiration. In the introduction to her Goddess Inspiration Oracle Guide she says: Affirmations offer a direct way to put the Divine Feminine into action. They allow us to change negative thought patters, thus freeing us to create a new road map for our lives. Affirmations also empower us to be self-sufficient - since we are giving ourselves positive feedback, we are not so reliant on others for praise. All of her Goddess Messages can easily changed to an Affirmation. Brigit's Affirmation: I am ready to burn with inspiration.

Kris Waldherr continues:

The fire of inspiration is a gift many yearn to experience. Celtic people of long ago entreated the goddess Brigit for this divine spark. In Scotland Brigit was seen in the form of a beautiful white swan, as elusive as inspiration itself. She was also called the Fiery Arrow because she was associated with the art of smelting, which uses the alchemical tool of fire to transform metals into valuable objects.

Brigit's sacred holiday, the feast of Imbolg, is observed the first of February. To receive her wisdom, many would hang a white wool cloth outside on the eve of Imbolg. The next morning, they fetched the cloth, believing it had absorbed the energy of the goddess. This sanctified cloth would be set aside in a special place, to be called into service when inspiration was required from Brigit, goddess of creativity.

Sue Jennings, in her book Goddesses calls this goddess Brigid and classifies her as one of her fire goddesses. She tells us: Brigid is the patron of midwives and fugitives, blacksmiths and poets, fertility and healing, corn and cattle. She is known by many names: The Bright One, Lady of the Shores, Brigid of the Green Mantle, Bright Arrow, The High One and Sacred Midwife and Healer.

She offers the following Brigid Ritual for Hope and Inspiration:

  • In a quiet, perfumed space, light a new white candle and sit comfortably as you meditate on the flame.

  • Slowly close your eyes and allow the flame to connect with your inner flame, your fiery strength and your inspiration from Brigid.

  • Slowly open your eyes, breathe softly the perfumed air, and feel blessed for the coming year.

This might be worth trying any time you feel your creative juices are blocked.

As Collette Baron-Reid's Goddess Power oracle deck was created she was guided to focus on the main aspect a goddess wanted to share advice on. For Brigid this is Creative Spark.

Blessings to you all!
