Rosa x damascena
Rose was the essential oil card that popped out of my essential oil deck today when I was choosing a card to reflect on today.
Rose has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. It is good for most skin types especially acne, dry, sensitive, mature skin as well as wrinkles and broken capillaries. Other skin conditions it is helpful for are eczema, herpes, shingles, skin infections, ulcers, inflammations and swellings.
Rose is also considered to be good for heart palpitations and poor circulation. Its bactericidal properties are considered to be helpful for chronic & bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, coughs, hay fever, sore throats and TB.
Rose is associated with unconditional love, as well as Divine Love. Rose brings in positive energy and promotes a sense of well-being.
Some people might tell you that everyone loves rose, but I have found that this is not always true. For many years, I personally found it to be far too strong and cloying, but as I got older it spoke to me more and more and now I happily include it in many of my own blends. I guess I had to 'grow into it'. In any case, whether you like its aroma or not, it is an excellent oil to use when working with the heart chakra and it can be beneficial when dealing with heart centered issues whether they are physical, emotional or spiritual.
