Rosmarinus officinalis
The card that popped out for my Sunday Essential Oil Reflection is Rosemary. Rosemary is for remembrance. It eases pain, both physical and emotional!
Rosemary’s strong, penetrating, camphorish aroma has head clearing and stimulating properties. This is an excellent oil to consider when dealing with physical exhaustion, feelings of being rundown, headaches, migraines, mental fatigue and nervous exhaustion. It is also excellent for memory.
Rosemary has antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. It is good in synergies created for acne, sagging skin, congestion, puffiness, eczema, swelling, varicose veins and water retention. It is also excellent when used in scalp massage blends or added to the last rinse for oily hair and dandruff.
Rosemary also has expectorant, decongestant, mucolytic and stimulant properties and is helpful for all respiratory infections, congestion, lung tonic, colds asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis and tonsillitis. It increases mucus secretion and relieves breathing.
Rosemary is helpful for rheumatism, arteriosclerosis, muscular aches & pains, cramps, muscular sprains, myalgia, sciatica, arthritis, neuralgia and tendonitis. It tones muscles and aids rheumatism. Helps with gout and other pains associated with toxin elimination.
Rosemary essential oil is available on the market in three different chemotypes. While there are similarities in all three the differences lie in their predominant chemotype.
Rosemary ct. cineole is especially suited for catarrhal conditions and can be used for earaches, sinus-bronchial-pulmonary infections and all ear, nose and throat problems.
Rosemary ct. verbenone is especially effective at the beginning of mucolytic treatment of bronchial and cold conditions and can be used for bronchitis. It is well tolerated by the skin, making it a good choice for skin care.
Rosemary ct. camphor is especially suitable for muscle pain and cramps as well as for muscular contractions, cramps, myalgia, rheumatism and arthritis.
Energetically, Rosemary can be used for loyalty and love. It can comfort emotional heartbreak, and may be appropriately used to help achieve closure to a relationship. It can be used in any grief blend. It clears the mind and enhances memory.
Caution: Some people find that they can’t sleep if they use rosemary too late in the day or at night.
