The card I chose for this month's meditation and energy healing session from Kris Waldherr's Goddess Inspiration Oracle Deck  was the goddess Fortuna. Posted above.

Kris Waldherr calls Fortuna, the Goddess of Fortune, with the Keywords: Surprise, Luck, Change and the Message: Believe in your good fortune.  In the introduction to her Goddess Inspiration Oracle Guide she says: Affirmations offer a direct way to put the Divine Feminine into action. They allow us to change negative thought patters, thus freeing us to create a new road map for our lives. Affirmations also empower us to be self-sufficient - since we are giving ourselves positive feedback, we are not so reliant on others for praise. All of her Goddess Messages can easily be changed to an Affirmation. Fortuna’s Affirmation: I believe in my good fortune!

Kris Waldherr continues:

Initially considered a fertility deity, the goddess Fortuna reigned over the laws of chance. Fortuna was honored throughout the Roman Empire in numerous incarnations, all made specific to the supplicant's needs. For example, newly married women honored Fortuna as the goddess Fortuna Virginensis. They offered her the garments from the bridal night so that she might smile upon their unions.

Generally considered benign of favor, Fortuna was later viewed as unpredictable in her inclinations. In medieval manuscript paintings, Fortuna is traditionally depicted blindfolded, suggesting the arbitrary and sometimes surprising nature of chance. She was also show with two faces, one smiling and the other bearing a frown.

In her Goddess Oracle Deck Guidebook, Katja Perez calls Fortuna, the Roman Goddess of Fate and Fortune with the Keywords: Abundance, Fate, Gratitude, Peace. Her message for this goddess is: Fortuna's powers are considerable but unpredictable. She often appears balancing on a ball, on which she either stands or falls. She teaches us that fortune cannot be controlled by deities; you can only be thankful when it's your turn, and accepting when it is not, and learn to embrace the unexpected.

As I reflect on this information, plus the card I pulled from James Van Praagh's, The Soul's Journey Lesson Cards Balance, I can only think how appropriate the message is going into, what is for most people, a busy season. A time often filled with expectations, obligations, gatherings (with people you love and maybe some you are not so fond of), that can bring up a multitude of different emotions. May you find true Inner Peace during this season and may Fortuna smile on you bringing many new blessings into your life in the year ahead.
